Record context
Find the experience that fits.
This continental edit connects 19 published city selections across seven countries. It preserves the order between chosen spas from the same local list, after checking identity, duplicate listings and the available operating information. The cross-city order is an editorial judgement about the documented spa offering, distinctive treatment or bathing experience, and diversity of settings. Local ranks are not comparable numerical quality scores.
Published methodology
Evidence, attribution and clear limits.
Published local rankings and identified spa experiences underpin the continental selection.
- 01
Start with local selections
The candidate pool comes from published 2026 city and destination selections. Each chosen spa has an identifiable profile and a traceable local position.
- 02
Check identity and experience
Duplicates and mismatched destinations are excluded. Dedicated treatment spas and established bathing destinations are preferred to generic hotel wellness listings.
- 03
Build the continental order
Local precedence is preserved between selected spas from the same source list. Across destinations, the order reflects editorial judgement about the published spa offering, distinctive treatment or bathing experience, and variety of settings. The selection balances the available destination coverage.
- 04
Make the sources visible
All 50 entries show their original local rank and link to the source selection. A local rank is not a comparable numerical score across cities. The continental order was established on 31 October 2026; linked local positions reflect subsequent editorial updates.
This is an editorial synthesis of Spa Awards’ existing geographic coverage, not an exhaustive assessment of every spa in Europe. It does not claim new on-site inspections, a public vote or a newly conferred external award. Hotel guest ratings were not treated as spa quality scores.
No payment was used to determine this continental order. Source selections retain their own participation rules and disclosures. Before visiting, confirm current treatments, access and availability directly with the property.
The 19 source selections
Nineteen published city selections across seven countries. Some lists include nearby municipalities. Their published local positions are retained even where a list is incomplete. Closed venues, unresolved identities and duplicate spa complexes are excluded; a local number one is not automatically included.
