Atiaia Spa & Fitness is the dedicated wellness facility of Grand Hyatt Rio de Janeiro at Avenida Lúcio Costa 9600 in Barra da Tijuca. The official Hyatt page places it on level minus one of the hotel. This corrects the previous Spa Awards description, which incorrectly located the spa on Copacabana’s Avenida Atlântica and described a different urban context.

Hyatt documents nine suites for treatments and relaxing massages, with rooms available for individual or couples appointments. Guests can select music and aroma preferences, subject to what is available and suitable. The current massage presentation highlights Atiaia Signature and Apuama Signature, while day-spa programmes combine massage with welcome rituals such as tea and a foot soak. Names and inclusions should be checked against the current booking page because packages and schedules can change.

The spa also publishes dry and steam saunas. The hotel fitness centre is described as open 24 hours and equipped for maintaining a workout routine, with some resort activities involving a personal trainer. These facilities have different operating rules: the fitness centre’s access does not prove that the spa reception, saunas or treatment rooms are open around the clock. The official spa page gives treatment-area hours of 09:00 to 19:00.

Before paying, confirm the treatment name, duration, practitioner, room arrangement, taxes or service charges, cancellation terms, hotel-guest or day-visitor access and every facility included. For couples, ask whether two therapists and a shared suite are guaranteed. For sauna use, check heat level, recommended duration, hydration, supervision and any restrictions. Guests who are pregnant or who have cardiovascular conditions, heat sensitivity, recent surgery, acute injury, skin conditions or reduced sensation should disclose this before confirming a heat or bodywork service and seek appropriate professional advice when needed.
